Herbal Oils & Guasha Workshop

I am so thrilled to invite you to one of my next herbal workshops here in Salt Lake City! This time, I’ll be partnering up with Vanessa Mock, LAc to explore skincare through nourishing herbal oils.

ABOUT VANESSA MOCK, LAc

Vanessa is a licensed acupuncturist in practice at Flow Acupuncture & Apothecary where I practice. She’s an incredible practitioner who excels at helping folks with all kinds of wellness goals. Vanessa also has advanced training in a style of cosmetic acupuncture which she’ll be bringing to our workshop on May 25th.

THE WORKSHOP

In this hands-on class, I’ll be showing you how I craft super-potent, ultra-decadent herbal oils. We’ll be working with some of my favorite skin-nourishing herbs like Calendula, Borage, Elder Flower, Rose, Helichrysum, Marshmallow Leaf, Echinacea flowers, and more. Attendees will meet a whole host of herbs before rolling up sleeves and crafting their own herbal face and body oil to take home and finish up over the course of several weeks. All supplies will be provided and you’ll be able to make about 4 ounces of oil with what we craft during the workshop.

HERBAL OILS

The skin loves oils, and they’re one of the best ways to bring gentle, supportive cleansing to the skin without stripping away essential protection or structure like many detergent cleansers do. The addition to herbs to these organic, cold-pressed oils brings the medicine of these plants to help with blood flow, purification of pores, clearing of obstruction, moving stagnation, brightening complexion, and supporting skin immunity.

We’ll be working with light and nourishing oils in the class, plus organic herbs that have been grown here in Utah or by trusted herbalist-farmers across the country. This whole process is so much fun and it’s a really lovely way to get into a deeper connection with the plants.

GUASHA

This technique, which will be taught by Vanessa, is a gentle modality of facial and neck massage using a stone tool. The tool is very lightly glided across the skin in specific directions and patterns to cleanse, clear, tone, relax, brighten, and nourish the skin. The whole process is so incredibly relaxing and is a powerful way to connect with your skin.

Guasha comes from traditional Chinese medicine and as a gentle, safe, and effective way to bring out the best in your skin.

Attendees will be gifted a special stone guasha blade to keep!

Herbal Skin Care

In addition to herbs, oils, and guasha, I’ll also be sharing some ideas with you for herbal skin masks, pore purifying steams, and hydrosols. As someone who has struggled with my skin for most of my life, this is a topic very near and dear to my heart and one that I find so empowering as we embrace our beauty and care for the largest organ we have- and the one we use to meet the world!

I really hope you can join us for this beautiful herbal class here at Flow!
